Having headrest DVD players is a great way to add more style to your car. It can serve not only as an entertainment tool but can also help your family or other guests in your car relax. You may also tune in to some of your favorite programs even as you are on the road.

One of the advantages of a headrest DVD player is that they are supposedly easier to install than those which are designed to be placed overhead. Apparently, you need to worry about less parts or additional installation aids. Headrest DVD players will usually come with the instructions on how to install them but below are some of the general guidelines recommended when you are installing one.

You need first to position the headrest DVD player on your headrest. This means that you have to outline where you wish to place it. A felt-tip marker can be used for this purpose. Make sure that you detach the headrest first. You also need to remove the upholstery as well. You may then cut a hole into the headrest foam so that you can create the space for where the DVD player would be placed into. With the frame as a guide, you can determine how deep the hole has to be in order for the DVD player to fit into the headrest.

Contact cement can be used to glue to frame to the sides of the hole. It is recommended that you push the frame all the way in once the cement sets. You also need to create another hole for the cables. You can then place the upholstery back and then cut it away where the hole is located. Seal the edges with contact cement.

The frame will then be the one housing in your DVD player and you can place the latter in once the contact cement has sufficiently dried. The cables should pass through the other hole created for it (positioned at the bottom). You can then replace the headrest back onto the seat. All you need to do now is to wire the DVD player onto your car’s power source. How it can be connected would still depend on the player itself. Various headrest DVD players connect in different ways.

As for audio outputs, you can also connect them to the stereo or audio outputs of your cars. You may also find some that come with wireless earphones.

One advantage of a DVD player is that they come with their own LCD so that you don’t have to have any other visual output equipment in order for it to work. They are also very compact and very light, hence, their eligibility for installment into your car.

Make sure that you check out with leading companies who manufacture these headrest DVD player so that you can be sure of getting one that will last you a long time and which would be a good investment for your money.

Headrest Monitors- the TV behind your head?

Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to enjoy going places and entertain oneself with other things while on the road, aside from the usual sight seeing? Well, wonder no more, because today, with the improvements in technology behaving like a man being chased by a psycho, the techno people have invented a new way to watched TV and enjoy traveling too, at the same time. Before, there was only the ordinary single TV installed inside a car, then there was DVD and VCRs, but now, there are headrest monitors! These things, so named, are the actual headrest of the car seats. The word monitor has an s in it, hence monitors, because car seats with headrests ranges from four to any number.

Headrest monitors save a family from a lot of emotional stress while traveling. The usual scenario, back then, before headrest monitors was invented, are children seated at the back of the car, having nothing else to amuse them, decide to irritate, taunt and tease each other. Then fights ensue and the mother, expected to do the motherly thing, tells the children to behave but the kids being kids, ignores their mother and continues to punch each other. Then TV in a car was invented. Thinking that this thing can lessen travel stress, parents are dismayed that it only worsens the situation. Now, children would not need to find other reasons to fight each other, just deciding what show to watch is enough reason for them to punch each other again. Then the savior appear, headrest monitors! With these things inside your car, each person gets to decide what he or she wants to watch with out having to fight over it. Individuals just need to stare at the back of the headrest with a monitor in it to amuse themselves until they arrive at their destination, and presto! Traveling without stress experienced first hand.

Headrest monitors do not come for free though. These things are expensive to buy, installation not yet included on the bill. The headrest monitors alone are really not that expensive. Sizes like seven-inch (17.8-centimeter) monitors cost at around $80. On the other hand, mounting these monitors can be very complex. You need to cut into the back of the headrest, set up the wires into the seats and route them to the input device (VCR, DVD player or game system). And then, you still have to put the seat back together again. That’s one thing that’s going to dishearten some fathers, deciding that installation costs need to be added to the relatively low price of some of these stand-alone headrest monitors. But cheer up! When deciding to buy and install headrest monitors in your car, you get to choose the style, size and features you want, for free! The only car models that have these things installed already in them are the SUVs and crossovers. So if you’re planning to have headrest monitors in your car, better limit your choice to those models just mentioned.
